The Mayor of Spelthorne, Cllr Sam Budd, will be taking part in the Trident Memorial services being held on Saturday 18 June.
The day is held annually to remember the 118 people who lost their lives on 18 June, 1972, when Flight BE548 crashed in Staines shortly after taking off from Heathrow.
Prayers will be said at 10am at the Memorial Ground at Moormede Recreation Ground followed by a Service at 11am at St Mary’s Church in Staines. Reverend Rod Cosh will be taking the Service.
The Mayor will be joined by fellow councillors including the Leader of the Council, Cllr Vivienne Leighton, and staff from Spelthorne Council.
In 2004, the Council created a memorial bench in Moormede Recreation Ground to provide a peaceful area for reflection and co-funded a stained glass window which was installed at St Mary’s Church to commemorate the tragedy.
