Title Leisure & Culture Strategy
Date 2001-2005
Document Strategy
Aims This Strategy provides a framework of planned objectives, policies and actions that will guide the provision and opportunities for leisure and culture in Spelthorne over the next few years. The strategy builds on the previous two strategies and provides a vision for the future development of the local area.
Overview The strategy is driven by a common vision for the area, as set out in the Community Strategy. This vision is supported by 6 themes: sustainability, lifelong learning, quality of life, community, young people and transport. For each of these themes a range of objectives are developed into specific actions relating to the different services, such as sports, arts, play, tourism, and libraries.
It is recognised that the strategy will only be achieved through multi agency working and the action plan identifies partners who will be key to achieving the vision.
Monitoring The action plan has clear and identified targets against which performance will be measured and reported to the Leisure and Culture Working Party and the relevant committee. The Borough also has a number of national and local performance indicators against which performance will be evaluated.
Links The Strategy addresses all 4 of the Council’s key priorities, Engaging Younger People, Making Spelthorne a Better Place, Improving Customer Satisfaction and Making Spelthorne Safer. In addition, the Strategy is vital to delivering key objectives under the Community Strategy.
