Promotion of equality and diversity
The Council has a legal duty to publish a Single Equality Scheme in order to promote equality and diversity across all the Council's services, activities and practices.  The scheme we have prepared covers the period 2009-2012 and includes an action plan showing how we intend to meet our obligations - the action plan is updated annually.
