Young People Action Plan - Smoking At the last meeting, Lisa Stonehouse, the Borough Council’s Health Promotion Officer, handed out draft copies of the Young People Stop Smoking Educational pack which was intended for distribution in schools and asked Student Councillors to consider what else needed to be included; who the best person in school was to hold the packs, such as the School Nurse, Administrative Officer or year teacher and what they thought of the pack generally. Student Councillors who attended the last meeting are asked to comment. Additional literature on this subject is enclosed with this Agenda. |

Youth Awards 2005 Space has been made available in the November issue of the Borough Bulletin to publicise the Spelthorne Youth Awards. The present Student Council is unlikely to be around at the time of the award ceremony and the Youth Forum will be asked if they wish to continue this project. However, if the award ceremony is to go ahead in 2005 then a decision is required now as publicity material for the Borough Bulletin will need to be prepared and booking of the venue and other arrangements will have to be put in place. |

Issues for Future Meetings a)outstanding issues: Police liaison in schools with young people. Arrangements had been made for an Officer in the Community Liaison Team to attend this meeting. Unfortunately the Officer has moved on but a new Youth Affairs Officer has been appointed and an invitation will be extended to that Officer when he takes up his post. b) To identify any issues that Student Councillors may wish to be included in their Work Programme for consideration during the remainder of 2004. |
