Public participation at Council meetings
Public speaking There are three opportunities for the public to speak at Council meetings:-
  1. during ‘public Question Time’
  2. when presenting and speaking on a petition
  3. when making a statement on a Cabinet/Committee recommendation before it is discussed by Council.
If you wish to speak at the Council meetings you must notify the Chief Executive in writing or by e-mail before 12 noon, five working days before the day of the Council meeting (i.e. 12 noon on the preceding Thursday for a Council meeting on the following Thursday) and at the same time include:
  1. the written question
  2. the original of your petition or
  3. the written statement of representations.
Agenda papers will be available at the meetings. Please note that you may be excluded from the second half of Council, Cabinet and Committee meetings when exempt/confidential matters are discussed. Other meetings may be held at short notice and occasionally meeting times may be changed.

The Council Chamber is fitted with an induction loop for use with hearing aids. Ramps and lifts are available for users of wheelchairs.

If you would like more information on speaking at the Council meetings please contact Committee Services on 01784 446240 or e-mail committee.services@spelthorne.gov.uk
