Local authorities are required to publish details of the totals paid to each councillor by way of basic and special responsibility allowance after the end of each financial year. The amounts paid by Spelthorne in the year ending 31 March 2011 are shown below.
A basic allowance is paid to all councillors. A special responsibility allowance is given to the Leader and Deputy of the Council, other members of the Cabinet, the Chairmen of Overview and Scrutiny, Licensing and Planning Committees and Opposition Group Leader.
