Hundreds turn out for Staines 10K

Deputy Mayor Cllr Vivienne Leighton got runners underway at this year's Staines 10K on Sunday 14 May

The race, organised by Staines Strollers and Runnymede Runners with support from Spelthorne Borough Council, saw 633 runners completing the course with the winner, Stuart MacDougall finishing in a time of 35 minutes and 24 seconds. The women's race was won by Jaydee Peters who completed the course in 39 minutes and 17 seconds and finished 18th overall.

The Race Director, Ken Saunders, said: "The Staines 10K is a highlight for local runners drawing hundreds of spectators and competitors. It's fantastic to see the popularity of the race is as strong as ever and runners coming back year after year; as well as lots of new faces. There was a really good atmosphere on the day and lots of people came to cheer on the runners. Well done to everyone who took part."

The event was made possible thanks to a team of dedicated volunteers and the support of the race sponsors: Everyone Active, Mova Hairdressing, Brewers, Stream AMP, London House Renovations, Brewers, Staines Chiropractic. Cousins Fruiterers, Apex Sports, The Frame Workshop, Starbucks, Staines Round Table and TW18 magazine.

All proceeds from the event will be donated to local charities.
