Spelthorne publishes Green Belt Assessment

Spelthorne Council has now published its Green Belt Assessment

Spelthorne Council has now published its Green Belt Assessment which was produced by consultants ARUP and sets out how areas of the Borough are performing against Green Belt purposes.

The assessment forms an important part of the Council's evidence base for updating our Local Plan, which we will begin consulting upon next year.

Local Plans set out the needs and opportunities of a local area in relation to housing, the economy, community facilities and infrastructure, as well as a basis for safeguarding the environment, adapting to climate change and securing good design.

It is important to note that the Green Belt Assessment is not a policy or decision-making document that proposes any release of green belt land.

Briefings on the assessment are being held for residents' groups, members of the public and other stakeholders, and we will have sessions at a later date where our consultants will be available to answer questions.
