Vote for the Fit & Fed project

The Council is bidding to receive a cash boost from the Tesco Bags of Help initiative.

Three groups in every Tesco region have been shortlisted to receive the cash award and shoppers are being invited to head along to Tesco stores to vote for who they think should take away the top grant of £4,000.

Voting will take place at the Ashford Tesco store on Town Lane during March and April and Spelthorne Council is asking residents to vote for its project, Fit & Fed, which encourages young people to participate in physical activity and to eat healthily during the school holiday periods. The project is aimed at young people aged 11+ who are on free school meals to ensure that they remain fit and fed during the holidays. The project will be delivered across the five youth centres in Spelthorne.

Cllr Maureen Attewell, Spelthorne's Cabinet Member for Community Wellbeing said: "We hope residents will support our project and vote for us. The school holidays can provide a challenging time for families who are on a low income so this project addresses this need by providing free access to sport and food during the holiday periods. It will make a really big difference to many families."

Any purchase from Tesco Ashford in March and April entitles you to receive a voting token and it's not necessary to purchase a carrier bag.
