What I love about Spelthorne

Over 60 young people take part in creative workshops

Over 60 young people aged 5-18 have taken part in a series of creative workshops in preparation for Spelthorne Borough Council's 'what I love about Spelthorne' creative competition, organised by the Mayor of Spelthorne, Cllr Jean Pinkerton OBE.

The workshops showed the young people how to make their own short films, design and print their own t-shirts, and write and produce music with professional industry teachers - giving them new skills and experience to use in the competition.

'What I love about Spelthorne' is open to all young people aged 5 - 18. Tell us what you love about Spelthorne and you could win a day out for the family, gift vouchers and more! Entries can be anything creative such as a piece of 2D art, a film, photograph, display or a song - the limit is your imagination! Tell us about your favourite place in Spelthorne, your favourite things to do or whatever it is that makes your local area special to you.

The Mayor of Spelthorne, Cllr Jean Pinkerton, said: "I've always been really amazed by the creativity of the young people in Spelthorne so as soon as I became Mayor I wanted to launch a competition which would showcase their talents. I know they will be bursting with ideas and I can't wait to see the entries."

Send your competition entry to: What I love about Spelthorne, Leisure Services, Spelthorne Borough Council Offices, Knowle Green, Staines-upon Thames, TW18 1XB by Friday 21 September.
