Registering to vote means that you can exercise your right to vote in elections and referendums. The electoral register lists the names and addresses of everyone who is registered to vote. It is published by street and house number rather than by the elector's name. You cannot vote if your name does not appear on the register. You must make an individual application and you are not automatically registered via other departments such as Council Tax.
The easiest way to register is to apply online at www.gov.uk/register-to-vote, but if you cannot get online you can call or email us and we will help you further.
