What I love about Spelthorne

This summer the Mayor launched a new creative arts competition for children and young people.

Participants were asked to show what they loved about Spelthorne using a variety of art mediums. To help them prepare, Spelthorne Council organised creative workshops in animation, film, art and music. Over 60 young people attended the workshops and between them they submitted 96 pieces of work for the competition.

At an awards ceremony held at the Council offices on Monday 12 November, twelve children were recognised for their entries:-

  • Winners:
  • 1st place: Anik Singh
  • 2nd place: Sayali Joglekar
  • Joint 3rd place: Sia Singh and Louisa Webster

Highly commended:

  • Kaianne Donaldson
  • Alicia Sphinx
  • Mika Colombi
  • Ethan Wolf
  • Sophie Moore
  • Aaliyah Ghazaleh
  • Amber Ghazaleh
  • Leo Woodards

The Mayor, Cllr Jean Pinkerton OBE, said: "I've always been amazed by the creativity of the young people in Spelthorne and it's been an absolute pleasure to launch this competition during my year as Mayor. They were absolutely bursting with brilliant artistic ideas and we had a wonderful variety of paintings, drawings, models and written pieces - we really enjoyed looking through them all. Very well done to everyone."
