Dozens of carers and those they care for enjoyed a free Christmas lunch arranged by Spelthorne Borough Council

Carers Christmas lunch

The festive feast was held at the Fordbridge Centre in Ashford on Monday 17 December.

A total of 40 carers and their loved ones enjoyed a menu of turkey with all the trimmings or a vegetable and feta cheese tart, with a choice of desserts from traditional Christmas pudding to black forest gateau or ice cream.

Among the carers who took part was Wendy Butt, who said: "The lunch was delicious, gave us a great opportunity to talk to other carers and it really got us into the Christmas spirit. We were also very impressed with the range of activities on offer at the Centre and how welcoming everyone was, so we'll definitely be back".

Cllr Maureen Attewell, Portfolio Holder for Community Wellbeing, said "We were delighted that so many well deserving carers and the people they care for were able to come along to enjoy a special festive lunch. Carers play a hugely important role in our society and this was our way of saying thank you to them for the wonderful job they do".
