Knowle Green Estates Ltd. is pleased to announce the achievement of a milestone in its plans to improve housing in Spelthorne.
A planning application has been submitted for the demolition of the Harper House emergency accommodation facility in Ashford and its replacement with a state-of-the-art facility on the same site, offering best-in-class emergency housing for up to 20families. The current residents will be relocated locally while the work is carried out.
The planning application number is 19/01029/FUL.
The new Harper House will be a significant improvement on the old building, as we re-provide the existing number of units to make the facility more liveable. An application for grant funding from Homes England will shortly be submitted.
Cllr Maureen Attewell, Portfolio Holder for Community Wellbeing and Housing, commented: "An important measure of any society is how well it cares for local people who need extra help. Spelthorne Council takes this responsibility very seriously and we are delighted with the results being delivered by the company."
Knowle Green Estates Ltd. was established by the Council in 2016 to address the lack of affordable and emergency housing to local residents. The company has ambitious plans to build over 650 new homes in the Borough. This includes a high percentage of affordable and keyworker housing, over the current municipal four year term, and to provide sufficient emergency accommodation for every local resident in need, removing the requirement to temporarily house families outside the Borough.
