Cllr John Boughtflower was elected as Leader of Spelthorne Borough Council at an Extraordinary Meeting of the Council on Thursday 25 June.

In 2016 Cllr Boughtflower was elected to the Council and was appointed to Cabinet as Lead Member for Corporate Management, with his portfolio including IT and the Heathrow Working Group. He has extensive experience in delivering operational and business transformation and is a manager at Royal Mail. He was a committee member for Ashford North Residents Association and resides in Ashford with his wife and daughter.

Speaking after being elected to the position, Cllr Boughtflower said: "I am humbled to be chosen as Leader of Spelthorne Borough Council. I pledge my best efforts to meet the needs, expectations for Spelthorne going forwards. I send a clear message to the residents and businesses of Spelthorne that this administration is business as normal. We will continue. We have some way to go as we recover from this Coronavirus outbreak and this Council will be doing everything in its power to help bring back normality although the new normality might not be as we expected before."

Cllr Boughtflower will be announcing his Cabinet early next week.
