Clean and safe environment

Providing businesses and residents a place where people want to live, work and enjoy their leisure time and where they feel safe to do so will help develop sustainable communities.

Key achievements 

  • Green Flags for parks and open spaces for the Walled Garden and Staines Cemetery
  • we planted 100 trees in Thameside, Laleham Park
  • we seized six tipper trucks involved in fly-tipping 
  • a number of stand-alone CCTV cameras at fly-tipping hotspots
  • removal of 20 unlawful encampments
  • the Enforcement team used news powers under the Proceeds of Crime Act (POCA) to recover income gained for unauthorised activity
  • issued 101 fixed penalty notices
  • installed two charging facilities for electric cars at the Council Offices 
  • replaced the play equipment at Cedars Park and opened a kiosk in Lammas Park
  • dealt with 641 noise complaints
  • picked up 47 stray dogs
  • 423 food inspections were undertaken by Environmental Health
  • 2821 visits were made by Building Control
  • 93% of planning application processed within in time limited exceeding all government targets
  • 48% recycling rate maintained
