Copy certificates - births, deaths, marriages and civil partnerships

The Surrey Registration Service has records of every birth, death, marriage and civil partnership that has taken place in Surrey since 1 July 1837.

Surrey County Council issue copy certificates for all records held on their premises - it is therefore important that you know which Register Office you need to apply to.

  • all birth records are held at Guildford Register Office
  • all marriage records are held at Weybridge Register Office
  • death records are held at Guildford, Leatherhead and Weybridge Offices. If you are not sure which office holds the death record you require, you can use our Register Office locator to help you
