Sustainability Appraisal

The Sustainability Appraisal identifies and reports on the likely significant effects of the LDF and the extent to which implementation will achieve social, environmental and economic objectives.

There is also an Appropriate Assessment which assesses the impact of the plan on sites of international importance for nature conservation.

Appropriate Assessment

The following documents were produced at previous stages in the process:

Sustainability Appraisal Progress Report
Sustainability Appraisal Report on the Preferred Options (May 2006)

The Sustainability Appraisal Report has now been produced and is published alongside the Spelthorne Development Plan Core Strategy and Policies and Allocations submission documents. The report revises and updates the progress report. It includes background information relevant to the appraisal process, the findings of appraisal of both documents and an account of the procedure of sustainability appraisal.

All Development Plan Documents and Supplementary Planning Documents are subject to Sustainability Appraisal. Sustainability Appraisal is an integral part of the plan-making process.
