Who is our meals service for?
The meals on wheels service is for adults who live in borough and who are aged or have health, disability or memory loss issues. If you cannot adequately shop, prepare or cook a meal for yourself, or you find using an oven or microwave is becoming a little difficult, why not give us a try.
What do we provide?
We deliver a hot, tasty, nutritious meal up to seven days a week to you between 11.30am – 2.30pm daily, or in the evening between 4.30-7.30pm. We can offer a service from 1 day a week up to 7 days for those who are most in need.
We deliver a main meal and a pudding. The puddings can be hot or cold. Hot puddings come with custard; cold puddings are mousses or jelly pots. We can cater for most diets such as diabetic (low sugar), gluten free, vegetarian and soft (chewing/swallowing issues). If another type of diet is required, we will try to meet your needs if we can. This might delay your service starting as these meals may have to be ordered in specially.
Meals can be provided for both long term and short periods of time eg in the event of illness until you recover, or when somebody who normally provides a meal is on holiday.
Frozen meals are available as well if the person is able to heat them and has a freezer to store them. This can be to cover the weekends when we do not deliver, or we can offer just frozen meals, delivering 7 meals in a bulk order one day each week.
How much does it cost?
The cost of each meal is £5 per day (this is a subsidised service), we can also supply a freshly made sandwich for an extra £2.
Invoices are sent monthly in arrears. These can be paid for by the customer, their friend or relative on their behalf. Payment can be made by Direct Debit, at the post office, at a pay point or online.
If you think the meals on wheels service is something that might be of use to you do not hesitate in contacting us. We can take a self referral over the phone from the customer or their next of kin and can usually start within 2-3 days.
