Spelthorne Borough Council has today paid tribute to Muggeridge furniture store, a much-loved family-run business that has been at the heart of the community since 1918.

In a special presentation ceremony held earlier today, the Council presented a commemorative shield in recognition of the store's over 100 years of service, celebrating its exceptional legacy of dedication to quality, customer care, and community spirit.

Cllr Joanne Sexton, Leader of Spelthorne Borough Council, who led the presentation, said:

"Trading in this borough for over a century is no small feat - it's an extraordinary achievement. Generations of residents have valued not only the goods provided by Muggeridge's but also the warmth, care, and reliability that defined the business.

Muggeridge's has been a cornerstone of community life, and their presence will be deeply missed. Their legacy of excellence and commitment to the local community has left a lasting imprint on generations of residents. On behalf of the Council and the people of Spelthorne, I extend my deepest gratitude and very best wishes for a happy, well-earned retirement."

The Council thanks the Muggeridge family for their tireless contribution to Spelthorne's commercial and community life and wishes them every happiness, many joyful years ahead, and continued good health in their next chapter.
