Spelthorne Design Code

For the last year, the Spelthorne Design Code team have been engaging local people and welcoming their views on the design of future development in the borough to co-produce a Design Code with the community. The team have been engaging Spelthorne's community members through a series of online and in-person engagement opportunities, including establishing a demographically representative Citizens' Panel. This Panel met for the last time in March 2025 to see how public feedback had already helped shape, and to share their thoughts on, the first draft of the Code. The wider community have also been contributing at every stage and more recently to further shape the Code by giving feedback during the public engagement period on the draft Code.

The Design Code project is now in the Stage 3 (testing phase), where a first draft of the Design Code has been developed and engaged on, with local residents and key community stakeholders having provided feedback.

There will soon be an opportunity for Spelthorne residents to have their say on the final draft of the Code during a statutory consultation. The exact dates for the consultation will be published on the engagement hub as soon as they are available. This will be the final opportunity to help shape the design of future development before the Code is adopted.
