Spelthorne honours Lewis & Sons for over 125 years of service

Lewis & Sons
Spelthorne today paid tribute to one of the borough's most historic family businesses, Lewis & Sons, in a special ceremony marking 129 years of continuous service to the local community

Established in 1896 in Staines, Lewis & Sons has been a trusted and much-loved presence on the high street for generations, renowned for its quality, dependability, and the personal touch that only a family-run business can offer.

At today's presentation, Cllr Joanne Sexton, Leader of Spelthorne Borough Council, and Cllr Chris Bateson, Deputy Leader of Spelthorne Borough Council, presented the Lewis family with a commemorative shield in recognition of their exceptional contribution to the borough and their enduring legacy of customer service.

Cllr Joanne Sexton said:

"To serve the community for over a century is a rare and extraordinary achievement. Lewis & Sons has been more than a shop - it has been part of the fabric of Spelthorne life. Through wars, recessions, and changing times, the business remained a reliable and trusted name.

On behalf of the Council and the residents of Spelthorne, I offer our heartfelt thanks to the Lewis family and wish them every happiness in their well-earned retirement."

Cllr Chris Bateson, Deputy Leader of Spelthorne Borough Council, added:

"It was an honour to attend today's celebration and recognise such a remarkable business. Lewis & Sons has exemplified commitment, resilience, and community spirit across generations. Their legacy will be fondly remembered by many in Spelthorne."

The Council extends its warmest congratulations to the Lewis family and wishes them every happiness, many joyful years ahead, and continued good health in their next chapter.
