Businesses back Visit Staines BID for another five years!

River Thames, Staines
Businesses in Staines-upon-Thames have voted to renew the Visit Staines Business Improvement District (BID) for a further five years from 2027 - 2032, securing continued investment in the town centre. The renewal ballot saw 81% of businesses voting in favour, with 85% of those voting by rateable value supporting the renewal.

The award-winning Visit Staines BID represents around 300 businesses in the town centre and delivers a range of projects and services designed to support local businesses, improve the town centre and encourage more people to work, shop and visit Staines-upon-Thames.

The BID’s work includes BID Rangers and crime prevention partnerships, events and marketing, seasonal decorations and planting, and initiatives to improve the appearance and experience of the town centre.

The successful ballot means Visit Staines can continue its work for another five years, building on its achievements to date and delivering its new business plan. This result demonstrates the benefits a BID can bring to the local business community and provides a positive example for other towns. As Ashford prepares for its ballot this winter, Staines-upon-Thames shows how a BID can support local businesses and town centre improvements.

Cllr Howard Williams, Chair of the Business, Infrastructure and Growth Committee, said, “This is a very positive result and reflects the value that businesses place on having a strong and active Business Improvement District. Visit Staines plays an important role in supporting our town centre, bringing businesses together and helping to create a welcoming environment for residents and visitors.

“I would like to congratulate the Visit Staines team on the successful renewal and thank all the businesses that took part in the ballot. With the transition to West Surrey Council in April 2027, I know Members and Officers will look forward to continuing to work closely with the BID and its business community over the next five years.”

Joana Santos, BID Manager, said, “We are delighted that businesses have voted to renew Visit Staines BID for another five years. Thank you to everyone who took part in the ballot and placed their trust in us.

“This result means we can continue delivering the services businesses value, from our BID Rangers and crime prevention partnerships to events, marketing and improvements that make our town centre more welcoming. It also gives us the opportunity to build on what we have achieved together and bring our new business plan to life.

“We look forward to working with local businesses and our partners to make Staines-upon-Thames an even better place to work, shop and visit.”
