Council consults on extending Misuse of Public Land PSPO
The PSPO was introduced to give the Council additional powers to deal with issues concerning the misuse of public land and to help maintain a cleaner, greener and safer Borough.
The current Order includes measures relating to:
- tents or similar structures being used on public land
- the use of devices for cooking, such as barbecues, in parks and open spaces
- an exclusion zone covering Stanwell Moor and parts of Stanwell in relation to taxis and private hire vehicles parking in residential areas.
The Council is now seeking residents’ views on proposals to extend the PSPO for one year.
Cllr Sue Doran, Chair of Spelthorne Borough Council’s Community Wellbeing and Housing Committee, said: “The Misuse of Public Land PSPO has given the Council additional powers to address issues that can have a real impact on our communities. I believe it has made a real difference across the Borough, particularly in tackling private hire vehicles waiting in residential areas. “
