Heathrow expansion: public consultation is underway

Heathrow Airport is holding an eight-week public consultation on proposals to expand the airport, including plans for a new runway to the north-west of the existing airport.

The proposals include the new runway and associated airport, transport and construction infrastructure.

The consultation is running until 22 December 2026, ahead of a proposed planning application in 2027.

Residents can view information about the expansion proposals and provide feedback. The consultation includes more than 20 in-person events in local towns and villages, as well as six online sessions. Representatives from Heathrow with expertise in areas including noise, air quality and the environment are expected to attend the events to answer questions.

Feedback from the consultation will form part of Heathrow's ongoing engagement and environmental assessment work before it submits a planning application for the proposals towards the end of 2027.
