New Staines Park play area to open soon
The exciting new play area will open in time for the school summer holidays, with the official opening at 10.30am on Tuesday 21 July, giving local families a modern, accessible and inclusive space to play, explore and spend time together.
The project has been funded through the Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL), which helps offset the impact of local residential development by investing in improvements to community infrastructure and enhancing important public green spaces.
Replacing the existing play equipment, the space has been designed to create an engaging play experience for children of all ages and abilities. The play area will feature toddler, inclusive, junior, teen and social zones, offering a wide range of opportunities for imaginative, active and inclusive play.
Accessibility has been a consideration throughout the design. Flush safety surfacing throughout the play area will be linked by accessible paths, making it easier for children, parents and carers to move around the site and enjoy the facilities. New benches and social seating areas will be installed, providing comfortable places to rest and meet with friends and family.
Following completion, Spelthorne Borough Council will maintain the play area to ensure it remains a safe, welcoming and enjoyable place for local children and families for many years to come.
Cllr John Turner, Chair of Spelthorne Borough Council’s Environment and Sustainability Committee, said: "This fantastic new play area will provide an exciting, inclusive and accessible space where children of all ages and abilities can play, explore and make memories together. Thanks to Community Infrastructure Levy funding, we've been able to invest in one of our valued green spaces and create a facility that families will enjoy for many years to come."
