Spelthorne honours volunteers

Honouring volunteers
Seventeen residents were recognised by the Spelthorne Civic Awards Trust for their voluntary service in the borough at a special ceremony held on Tuesday 21 April at Spelthorne Borough Council’s offices.

Civic Awards are for voluntary service within the borough, celebrating individuals whose dedication and commitment have made a meaningful difference to the lives of others. These honours are awarded to members of the community who, in the view of the Trustees, have demonstrated outstanding effort and delivered clear benefit to local residents.

Nominations are invited annually for individuals who have shown dedicated service for at least 12 years. Letters of Commendation were introduced in 2003 and are presented to those who have already received a Civic Award and have continued that service for at least a further 10 years.

The awards shine a light on those who often work quietly behind the scenes, giving their time and energy to strengthen community spirit, support those in need, and improve the borough as a whole.

The Mayor of Spelthorne, Cllr John Doran, said: “Civic Awards are a wonderful opportunity to recognise the remarkable individuals who give so much to our community. Their selfless contributions embody the very best of our borough, and it is only right that we celebrate their achievements and dedication.”

Colin Squire OBE, Chairman of the Spelthorne Civic Award Trust, said: “These awards highlight the incredible impact that volunteers have across our borough. The hard work and commitment shown by the recipients is truly inspiring, and we are proud to acknowledge the difference they make every day.”

Many congratulations to the following recipients:
