We offer a duty session for general planning enquiries where you can speak to the Duty Planning Officer over the telephone. A Planning Officer will be available on the following days and times:
Telephone 01784 446282
Please note that if the Duty Officer is engaged on another call, please leave your name, telephone number and a short message on the voicemail and they will contact you as soon as possible.
The Duty Planning Officer telephone is only available on the above days/times. If you try to call outside these hours/days, the number above will not connect you.
This service is intended for local residents who seek advice on proposals to their property, clarification on what planning guidance/policies are available, help to understand submitted plans and how to make comments on planning applications.
Any definitive view on whether a planning proposal is acceptable will need to be the subject of a planning enquiry which should be submitted via a 'planning enquiry form' with plans and the relevant fee. The Council charges for written pre-application advice and meetings relating to non-householder proposals. Please see our web page on pre-application advice.
It is possible to carry out certain works without planning permission under the Government's Permitted Development legislation. However, any definitive view on whether planning permission is needed will need to be the subject of a Lawful Development Certificate. For further information and how to apply please see the Planning Portal website on Lawful Development Certificates.
