Composting

Get composting today - for a greener tomorrow

Composting is the most natural way to deal with your food and garden waste. You can compost:

  • vegetable peelings and fruit scraps
  • tea bags and coffee grounds
  • dead flowers
  • shredded paper
  • leaves and grass cuttings

All you need is a compost bin or a small space in the garden to create a heap. See the Surrey Environment Partnership guide which explains the different types of compost bin you can have to create your own supply of natural food for your garden.

To buy a bin or to make your own, visit the compositing pages of the Surrey Environment Partnership website.

If you do not wish to use the Council's garden waste collection scheme or compost bins then please take your garden waste to your local Community Recycling Centre (tip).
