Cycling for health booking form
Spelthorne Council Cycling for Health scheme was launched to encourage residents to improve their health by taking up cycling. The scheme is free and aimed at adults, offering guided rides of around 5-13 miles during the week.
To book a place on one of rides please use our online form or contact Leisure Services.
Once booked, in case of cancellation, you will be contacted, where possible, 24 hours' prior to the ride.
Please note, the rides are designed for adults only and are therefore not suitable for children.
British Cycling's M-Check is a quick, intuitive and easy to remember routine for ensuring that your bike is in good working order and is safe before every ride. The video shows you how to systematically check your bike from front to rear in a way that will quickly become second nature. As well as helping to guarantee your safety, the M-Check will also help you become more familiar with the parts and workings of your bike.
In partnership with Travel SMART, Spelthorne Borough Council has produced a self led cycle pack containing 8 rides in and around Spelthorne. Each route includes an easy to follow A4 map and a route description with points of interest and tips on riding safely.
Rides vary between 9 and 13 miles in length and thanks to the lack of hills in the area, are suitable for novice riders. Sites of interest include Wraysbury Windmill, the Thames path, Twickenham Stadium and Shot Tower.
A limited number of printed copies available, limited to one pack per person, in Spelthorne libraries, leisure centres and the Council offices.
Please use the alternative blue route, rather than points 10 and 11, to avoid cycling down private roads
Adult cycle training is available across England, although this is not currently funded. Costs vary, so please contact your local training provider for more information. To find a course near you, visit Bikeability's Find Cycle Training page and submit your postcode.
