Pest control

The Council currently does not have a pest control service in place.

It is the responsibility of the owner/occupier/tenant to seek their own pest control provider.

You can look on the British Pest Control Association website and find a pest controller by putting in your postcode and service you require: Find a Pest Controller near me | Search pest control services (bpca.org.uk)

When looking for a pest contractor we recommend:

  • getting a couple of quotes as prices can vary.
  • find out if there is a call-out fee.
  • ensure they have insurance.
  • find out what service they will provide and guaranteed (if the treatment does not work)
  • after the treatment, ask for full written report.

There is legislation that requires owners/occupiers to keep their land free from rats and mice.

If an owner/occupier does not deal with an infestation of rats or mice, Environmental health officer can take enforcement action against them, to ensure that their land and property is not infested with rats and mice.
