Spelthorne Leisure Services have numerous projects which rely on volunteers.
We are looking for local residents to offer their services to help continue delivering these valuable services.
Appealing for volunteers to join an enthusiastic team of leaders who lead short walks, designed for beginners, between one and three miles. There are walks at least three times a week in various areas of the Borough and surrounding areas. The walks are scheduled to suit the availability of leaders and there is no specified time commitment.
Recruiting leaders to offer guided rides of around 6-12 miles during the week. The scheme is aimed at older adults and is suitable for adults who are able to ride a bike and looking to join a sociable group. The rides are scheduled to suit the availability of leaders and there is no specified time commitment.
This club is held on Saturday mornings from 10.15-11.45am at Spelthorne Leisure Centre in Staines. The club is open to young people with disabilities aged 5-25 and their siblings and offers a variety of sports including goalball, table cricket and new age kurling. Volunteers will assist members to participate in the various activities and we also welcome people who would be interested in designing a website or take on committee roles e.g. secretary and treasurer.
Open to adults and young people aged 14+ with disabilities, the club is held on Thursday evenings from 6-7pm at Spelthorne Leisure Centre. Volunteers will assist members play boccia, which is a disability sport, similar to bowls and pétanque. The aim of the game is to propel leather balls, coloured red or blue, close to a white target ball (the jack). It is played from a seated position and the ball can be moved with players' hands, feet or an assistive device e.g. a head or hand pointer.
