Welcome to our new website!
We would like to receive any feedback on your experience, please email news@spelthorne.gov.uk.
We are required under Environmental Protection Act 1990 to take reasonable steps to deal with any dog straying in a public area. To do this we work in partnership with a company called SDK Environmental Ltd.
SDK will pick up any stray dogs found in the borough and return them to their owner, if identified. They can only respond to calls where the dog is confined by a member of the public and not to calls of sightings of dogs wandering in streets or open spaces.
Alternatively, you could take the dog to a vet in the borough who will be able to check if it is microchipped.
If you have lost your dog, please check the following:
If SDK has your dog, please call 03444 828300 during office hours. To reclaim your dog, you will need to provide:
Fees to reclaim your dog
Fees vary depending on when a dog was collected, how long it has been kennelled for and if any veterinary fees have been incurred.
The standard fee for a stray dog is £235.00
Fees must be paid direct to SDK before the dog is returned. The fee is made up of the statutory fine and cost of collecting and transporting the dog. These are payable in every case. Please see table below for breakdown of the fee and other charges.
