Pay your council tax

Direct Debit

Direct Debit is the easiest way to pay. We offer four payment dates on the 1, 8, 15 and 22 (25 for Business Rates only) of the month. You can complete the online direct debit instruction form to set this up.

Online

Paying online is an easy, secure way to pay your Council Tax. You will need your Council Tax account reference (the account reference should be nine digits long. If the last digit is an 'X', please enter a capital 'X').

In order to continue to use online payments your browser must support high encryption. Please ensure your browser is the latest version.

We cannot accept liability for a payment not reaching the intended account due to a customer quoting an incorrect reference number. Neither can we accept liability if payment is refused or declined by the card supplier.

If the card supplier declines payment the Council is under no obligation to bring this fact to the customer's attention. Customers should check with their bank/debit/credit card supplier that payment has been deducted from their relevant account.

If your payment is overdue and you have received a reminder, final notice or other recovery notice you must ensure the payment is received by the deadline date specified on that notice.

By telephone

Payments can be made telephone using 01784 444220 at any time, alternatively you can contact Customer Services. Please have your Council Tax account reference to hand.

By automated payments - BACS - or standing order from your bank account

You should obtain the necessary forms from your bank, instructing them to pay Spelthorne Borough Council. Our bank details are - Lloyds Bank Plc, City Office, Sort Code: 30-80-12 and Account No: 11441960. Always quote your either your Council Tax reference or Non-Domestic Rate account reference which can be found on your bill. Please ensure that we receive payments on or before the dates they become due.

By post

If you send your payment by post, you should address it to The Revenues Office.

Make cheques and postal orders payable to Spelthorne Borough Council. Do not send cash through the post. If you pay by cheque, please write the payment reference number on the back of the cheque. We will not give you a receipt unless you specifically ask for one and send us a stamped addressed envelope.

Post Office and Paypoint outlets

Payment can be made at most Post Offices by cash/cheque or Paypoint outlets by cash only if your bill has a barcode printed on it. There is no fee for this service.
