Electoral Registration

Registering to vote means that you may exercise your right to vote in elections and referendums. You cannot vote if your name does not appear on the register and it may also affect your credit score. Please note, you are not automatically registered via other departments such as Council Tax.

Since 2014, anyone registering to vote is required to make an individual application, which will be verified by the Department for Work & Pensions. If personal details are unverifiable, you may be asked to provide further information.
