PSPO misuse of public land

A consultation was conducted between 2 and 31 January 2024 which asked for views on the introduction of a Public Space Protection Order (PSPO) giving the Council powers to enforce the following:

  • a ban on tents or similar structures being used on public land (to prevent littering and the area being used as a toilet)
  • a ban on any device for cooking (e.g. barbeques) in parks or open space (to prevent risk of fire and damage to the area)
  • the introduction of an exclusion zone covering Stanwell Moor and parts of Stanwell where taxis and private hire vehicles cannot use residential areas for parking

In total, 349 people and 3 organisations (Surrey Police, Heathrow and Staines Moor Masters) took part in the consultation. A summary of the results can be found below:

In light of the strong support for the proposals, the Council agreed to adopt the PSPO, for an initial period of three years.
