Cemetery fees

About the fees

  • The cemetery fees are set annually and agreed by Members of the Council.
  • If you are purchasing a new grave, the purchase fees will need to be added to the applicable burial fee. If you have an existing family grave, it is only the burial fee which will need to be paid.
  • There are fees applicable for residents and non-residents of the Borough.

Who qualifies for a resident fee?

  • The deceased must have been a permanent resident of the Spelthorne Borough at the date of death. A current Council Tax Bill may be requested as proof of residency.
  • The deceased was resident within three years of the date of death and was moved to a residential care home out of the Borough, as there was no place available for residential care in the Borough and had been a resident of Spelthorne for at least 25 consecutive years of their adult life.

Payment of fees

  • Burial fees are usually paid to us by your Funeral Director. Payments made directly to us can be made online, on the phone, by bank transfer or by cheque made payable to Spelthorne Borough Council.
  • Individuals paying directly must pay in full at least five working days before the funeral.
