Emergency Services

If you find yourself in a situation where there is risk to life or a serious risk of crime or damage you should dial 999 and ask for the appropriate emergency service.

Hearing or speech impairments

  • If you have a hearing or speech impairment and you've pre-registered with the emergency SMS service, you can use our textphone service 18000 or text us on 999.
  • If you are a British Sign Language (BSL) user, you can call 999 BSL to use a remote BSL interpreter.

Silent 999 calls

If you need to contact the police for non-urgent matters dial 101.

If you need to contact the NHS when you have an urgent healthcare need that is not life-threatening dial 111
