2024 ASR  Report now available

The 2024 Annual Status Report is now available. The report reviews monitoring data for 2023 and over a 5-year period. The report has been approved by Defra.  

Residents may prefer to read a short summary of the 2023 air pollution levels that is also available.

Impact of Fireworks Night on Air Quality

Smoke from fireworks and bonfires can cause Guy Fawkes to be the most polluted night of the year. Other autumn and winter festivals and celebrations such as New Year's Eve are also associated with poor air quality due to the widespread use of fireworks.
