Grounds maintenance grass cutting parks and open spaces

Spelthorne Council's grounds maintenance team maintain the Borough's parks and open spaces.

They are responsible for the following in our parks:

  • grass cutting
  • maintaining shrubs, hedges, flower beds and trees
  • planting trees, shrubs, bulbs and other plants
  • seeding and marking out of sports pitches
  • litter collection
  • removal of dog mess on selected sites

Other green spaces are the responsibility of housing associations or other bodies.

Please call Neighbourhood Services to report any problems.

Grass cutting and roadside verges

From 1 April 2023, Spelthorne Borough Council will no longer be responsible for maintaining grass verges as Surrey County Council announced in January they would be taking it back in-house.

This will include:

  • overgrown grass verges
  • grass cutting on all high-speed roads
  • weed spraying

We will continue to maintain all our parks and open spaces

What happens after 1 April 2023?

You will be able to report grass cutting, overgrown grass verges or weed issues at Grass cutting, verges and weeds - Surrey County Council (surreycc.gov.uk)
