Welcome to our new website!
We would like to receive any feedback on your experience, please email news@spelthorne.gov.uk.
In February 2022 we asked for feedback from residents on creating a long-lasting memorial in the Borough to reflect the Coronavirus pandemic and how best to commemorate the difficulties our community has faced.
We issued a news release to the media, Councillors and Residents Associations. The news release appeared on our website and shared out on MyAlerts.
We included it in our February eNews as well as sharing it on digital screens on the high street/shopping centre in Staines. Posters were displayed on Community Borough noticeboards. Additionally, our social media channels regularly promoted the consultation and a print advert in the Surrey Advertiser was published.
17 responses were taken forward and discussed at Council, including tree planting and an award for volunteers. Following this feedback, The Spelthorne Civic Trust presented a special recognition award for the volunteers who gave so much to support the Borough during this very challenging time. The evening, which was attended by the Lord Lieutenant of Surrey Michael More-Molyneux, included a presentation of a specially commissioned embroidery award to recognise the contribution of volunteers from Spelthorne during the Covid Pandemic. The award can be viewed in the Council Chamber at Knowle Green and was presented to Voluntary Support North Surrey to recognise the extraordinary impact volunteers had supporting residents in the Borough.
