Spelthorne Borough Council recognises the importance of working with Trade Unions to promote good industrial relations and to comply with the principals set out in the Trade Union and Labour Relations (Consolidation) Act 1992 (amended by the Trade Union Act 2016) and Trade Union Reform and Employment Rights Act 1993.
There are a small number of formal consultation meetings during work time where the Chief Executive and/or other senior managers and Human Resources meet with the requirements for consultation and information to staff. Trade union representatives may also meet and represent staff at formal meetings under Council procedures.
