Better Neighbourhood Grants

What is the Better Neighbourhood Grants Scheme?

The Spelthorne Better Neighbourhoods Grant (BNG) Scheme gives each borough councillor an annual budget of £1000 to allocate to projects in their ward.

One of the Council Corporate Plan priorities is `community' which puts communities at the heart of everything we do. Local community projects are crucial as they help to keep people connected with others and foster a variety of benefits. The grant scheme aims to help Councillors support their local community by helping to fund small projects and initiatives.

The link to the handbook on this page sets out the principles and rules for the scheme, which are intended to make it transparent, accountable, and auditable.

How funds are allocated

Councillors decide how to allocate their BNG budget based on their local knowledge. Ward councillors would be pleased to discuss the needs of any small, local projects that would benefit from support through the scheme. Your ward councillors are listed via this link Borough Councillors.  Applications for BNG must come from councillors.  Applications submitted directly from members of the public will not be accepted.
