Privacy Notice - Litter Heroes

Spelthorne Borough Council has collected your / your child's personal information to allow us to process your entry for the Spelthorne Litter Heroes initiative.  

To comply with the Data Protection Act 2018 and the UK General Data Protection Regulation, Spelthorne Borough Council must provide you with the following information about the personal data you give to us or we receive from third parties as recommendations:

What information does the Council collect?

Your name as the parent / guardian, child's name, child's age, postal address, and child's photograph.

We will process any further personal information which you may decide to provide us when corresponding.

Why does the Council process personal data?

The Council processes this information to allow us to communicate with you and receive your certificate from The Mayor of Spelthorne and have your child's name added to the roll of honour web page;  Young litter heroes roll of honour

When we process your data for the competition, we are doing so under the basis of GDPR Article 6(1)(e) processing is necessary for the performance of a public task.

Who does the Council share your personal data with?

We may share your data with the local press and publish in our Enewsletter and the Bulletin magazine which will also appear on our social media pages and website. If you do not wish for your personal information to appear in the local press (including our news bulletin) or social media pages, please advise us when sending your personal information. We will not be able to remove personal information once shared with the press.

How long does the Council keep your data?

The personal data of the Litter Heroes that has been published will be kept in perpetuity as this information will feature in our bulletins, website and on social media pages. Bulletins are kept for archive purposes. All other personal information will be deleted once certificates have been processed. Emails will be kept for a maximum of 6 years.
