Privacy Notice - Spelride Membership

Spelthorne Borough Council (SBC) will collect your personal information to allow us to process your request or application for Spelride membership, and for the running of the service. Spelride is a door-to-door transport service using specially adapted minibuses to carry passengers with a mobility problem in Spelthorne.

You can use Spelride if you are a disabled or elderly resident of Spelthorne who cannot use conventional public transport.

SBC collects this data on behalf of Elmbridge Borough Council who manage all transport bookings and routing.

In order to comply with the Data Protection Act 2018 and the UK General Data Protection Regulation, the Council must provide you with the following information about the personal information you give to us or we receive from third parties:

What information does the Council collect?

Your personal details, contact details and next-of-kin information including carer details will be collected. We will process further personal information which you may decide to provide us when corresponding. This may include special category data such as health information and needs.

The data controller for the personal data for the transport service is Elmbridge Borough Council and SBC is the data processor for the service.  

Why does the Council process personal information?

The Council processes this information to allow us to process your application form and facilitate journeys for Spelride transport services.

When we process your information for the competition, we are doing so under the basis of the UK General Data Protection Regulation Article 6(1)(e) processing is necessary for the performance of a public task.

Who does the Council share your personal information with?

We will share your information with Elmbridge Borough Council who manage all transport bookings and routing.  We may share your information with other departments within Spelthorne Borough Council including its contractors, such as agencies who provide temporary staff.

Your data may also be shared with external parties, for instance your data may be used in emergency situations, to pass medical information to the ambulance service, or if there is any concern regarding the welfare of individuals.

How long does the Council keep your information?

The Council will continue to hold your personal information for a maximum of 6 years after the lapse of any memberships.
