Privacy Notice - Budget consultation

Spelthorne Borough Council would like to collect your data and consultation responses in order to consult on the proposals for the 2022/2023 Budget and beyond.  We want to know which services are most important to local people to enable us to prioritise and make decisions about where to invest our Budget. 

In order to comply with the Data Protection Act 2018 and the UK General Data Protection Regulation, Spelthorne Borough Council must provide you with the following information about the personal data you give to us or we receive via third parties.

What information does the Council collect?

We need your personal data such as whom you represent including your title (if answering on behalf of a charity/commercial entity), your postcode, your age group, ethnicity, and income bracket. We will require limited information about your disability to gain insight into which services we should offer within the Borough.

Why does the Council process personal data?

We will use the information to evaluate the data provided to ensure that the priority of residents is clear and feeds into the next budget proposal. We will publish statistical reports from the data we collect. These reports will not contain any of your personal information.

The lawful basis we rely on to process your personal data is article 6(1)(e) of the UK GDPR, which allows us to process personal data when this is necessary for the performance of a task carried in the public interest.

If the information you provide us or we receive in relation to the consultation contains special category data, such as health, religious or ethnic information the lawful basis we rely on to process it is article 9(2)(g) of the UK GDPR, where processing is necessary for reasons of substantial public interest. As we are allocating funds for public services, we believe this processing of personal data is of substantial public interest.

Who does the Council share your personal data with?

We do not share your personal information with anyone outside Spelthorne Borough Council.

How long does the Council keep your data?

The data will be kept for 6 months, stored on the Council's consultation system
