Spelthorne Design Code

The Spelthorne Design Code was adopted by a unanimous vote at an Extraordinary Meeting of the Council on Tuesday 17 March 2026. The meeting agenda and draft minutes are on the main Council web page

The Code was adopted as a Supplementary Planning Document (SPD), which provides further guidance on design policies within the Spelthorne Local Plan 2024- 2039/40, which was also adopted at the same meeting on 17 March.

A Design Code is a framework that contains drawings, plans and a set of rules (design requirements), which influence how all new buildings, streets, parks, gardens, and public spaces across the Borough should be designed and built, or how existing buildings should be modified, ensuring high-quality design of all future development.
